If there is one area that I really feel PartyPoker excel, it is in their commitment to bringing large numbers of promotions to their customers each month. Currently in progress at partypoker.com are numerous offers, which may be too many to list here, but I shall cover some of them, and details for the others can be found at PartyPokers site.

‘The Big Deal’ immediately strikes me as a great promotion. The more poker points players earn onsite, the more tickets they get in a prize draw each day of the month with many different cash prizes being paid out at random. As well as this, each point earned at the tables earns a ticket in a $2 million giveaway on the 1st of November too.
New players to www.partypoker.com will find themselves with seats available to ‘bankroll builder’ tournaments. These would normally have reasonable amounts of money in the prize pools, but for the next couple of weeks, they have been boosted, with a special $30,000 tournament taking place on October 26th.
There are also promotional qualifying tournaments available, giving players a cheap chance at claiming a seat in the weekly 300k tournament. Many freerolls are always on the schedule at Party Poker too, for beginners and established players. With bad beat jackpots, bonuses galore and much more to be had, I think Party Poker has an outstanding list of promotions going on at the moment.

At PKR there are always chances for the players to turn their skills into something truly special with satellites running for seats to major land based tournaments around the world.
The PKR bonus for first time depositors stands at 100% and once a player joins, they will begin to earn PKR points pretty quickly. The merchandise in the online store looks good and is very affordable in terms of points too.

PKR offer around 2.5 million in gauranteed prize pool money each month which gives some great value for money to their customers along the way. Also running are ‘Terminator’ promotional tournaments which I can tell you from first hand experience, are great fun to play in (I came second place in one of these with the most heads, and earnt a tidy sum of money).
There is also a poker school available at PKR along with a great community section which all helps new players get settled and understand how things work.
Along with the promotional first deposit bonus of 100% at PKR, you also are given tournament tickets too, which can aid with bankroll expansion considerably. Personally I think the bonuses and promotions on offer at PKR are good, but as with most players I would imagine, I always want to see a few more added to the list.
Until then however, I am sure us players can amuse ourselves with any of the excellent tournaments which are on the schedule, with the ‘Terminator’ ones being particularly enjoyable in my opinion.

Personally I like pacificpoker.co.uk and it’s continued improvement. The site offers some great bonuses and promotions to cater for a balance of both the bigger players, and the smaller money players. Refer a friend bonuses are also given to both the referred friend and the referring player. Six days a week Pacific Poker hold a $20k gauranteed tournament also, this is a large prize pool to be offering players on a daily basis, and is good to see.

As much as I like the current promotions and bonuses available, I have to say I would like to see them updated a little more often. New promotions being added each month, keeps the players onsite logging in to see what offers they can take advantage of next.
Personally I am also not overly keen on their graphics either, but these are all improvements that can be made with time, and as long as the site is moving in the right direction, I feel that is the most important thing.
The poker school that Pacific Poker offers shows that they are willing to help out the novices on their site, despite the fact that such players are unlikely to be the biggest of spenders onsite.
www.pacificpoker.co.uk does not accept U.S players these days as many other sites do not, but this is of course not their fault. They have good support available onsite, and many great aspects of their poker playing experience, and I for one, like the site a lot. There are still a few improvements that could be made of course, but then everyones personal preferences are different.

Sky Poker I feel, is a site which has room for improvement. They were pioneers in allowing the regular internet player the chance to be viewed on television whilst playing online tournaments, and this gave them a good following to build on. Recent changes onsite should help them continue to grow too, as several improvements and new tournaments have been put in place.

These include, sharper and swifter graphics, with tables being improved to give a better all round visual experience. This is something I feel that was overdue an upgrade, and Sky poker have not disappointed in this regard.
There have also been nightly £500 freerolls running on Sky poker which is nice to see.
The Sky channel which broadcasts their shows and tournaments has also been given something of a makeover too, and looks much more impressive than the old format.
There is also a very good bonus sytem in place now, whereby players earn increasing amounts of bonus money based on how many points they within the first 30 days of joining Sky Poker.
Also on offer at Sky poker are poker school sections for the novice player, satellites to upcoming land based tournaments for the veterans of the game, and many other tournaments to cater for those in between.
All in all I like the fact that Sky poker are working hard on improving their site, because although the site has always been reasonably good, they also have needed improvements in my opinion. One big problem remains for me in that only Holdem is offered, but it is nice to see progress being made.

Ladbrokes have excelled recently in my opinion, with their greater variety on offer in terms of the type of playing experience you wish to have. Those that do not wish to download software onto their computers can be happy enough playing their non download version of play. There is also the regular downloadable version if you choose, and recently, a 3D poker version of Ladbrokes poker room too.

{ladbrokes poker:b1}
This 3D upgrade is a real step forward I feel, bringing 21st century online poker into the gameplay of their site. Many sites have been slow to make this necessary improvement, but not Ladbrokes, and there are other good things going on here which are worth investigating. These include, a european online poker championship held by ladbrokes which follows the increasing trend of offering large scale tournaments to rival some of the land based bigger events on the calendar. Also, the layout of the tables and betting buttons have been improved to give ease of choice and clarity in terms of bets you wish to place. Folded cards can also be viewed and there have been numerous small tweaks and improvements made to the gameplay as a whole.
Options whilst playing have been given to all players to change tables designs and other things which may not be quite to their personal tastes, and I have to say this really does show a concerted effort to make every player happy at the tables.
These changes for me, show real enthusiasm by Ladbrokes to put their poker rooms up there with the best. I like the look of all the changes, and really feel that Ladbrokes is becoming one of the best places to be, in terms of participating in online poker today.

One of the first points to make about Betfair is their sposorship of the European WSOP. This affiliation with the WSOP immediately impresses and shows that Betfair are one of the top sites around.

The tables and graphics onsite are of a very good standard, with a well set out lobby and betting options whilst at the tables too. Despite having it’s obvious good points, Betfair does have it’s weaknesses too. The player traffic isn’t the best around but there should still be enough players to find a game at most times. This slight problem is perhaps the reasoning behind there only being Omaha and Holdem available onsite, but whatever the reasoning it is definately something which should be improved if at all possible.
The first time bonus on offer at Betfair is a competitive one, at 100% up to $600. This bonus is released gradually as you accumulate points unfortunately, but the offer still amounts to a good one all in all.
Betfair have always shown a commitment to offering large scale gauranteed tournaments, which I must say are a favourite of mine.
This month alone will see Betfair offering well over $2 million in gaurantee prizes.
So despite there being some negatives about Betfair in my opinion, there are definate positives too, and with any luck the advertisement possibilities that their links to WSOPE provide, should help to develop a larger player base, and enable them to offer a greater variety of games in the future.

www.32redpoker.com offers a 100% cash match bonus for first time depositors, up to an amount of $500. This is a fairly good offer, but personally I always prefer not to have to accrue lots of points and contact customer service before receiving a bonus. There are some good promotions on offer at Red Poker each month. the most notable of which is ‘The Elevator’ which requires players to earn as many points as they can over a month to win a share of set prize amounts.

Also in operation is a bad beat Jackpot to boost the bankroll of the unluckiest players onsite, although the requirements of losing with at least four eights’s are a little unrealistic.
Refer a friend bonuses are also available in the shape of $50 for each friend you refer, and $25 for that friend also. New players also gain acces to a $1,000 freeroll which runs monthly.
With the ‘Elevator’ promotion in mind, extras can be earned by those players that reach the highest levels of this system, mostly in the form of cash extras. Overall I think 32redpoker.com looks fairly good, my opinion being boosted by the stellar customer service options available. Customer service can be reached 24 hours a day 7 days a week by telephone, email, and also live chat. This ensures that any customer with a problem has expert advice at their fingertips when they need it, which is conducive to happy first time players onsite.
Overall a good site in my opinion, but needs a few improvements in aspects such as ease of bonus realeases, and bringing down the requirements for a bad beat Jackpot which looks incredibly difficult to win.

www.celebpoker.com are not widely considered to be amongst the elite of online poker sites but they certainly have their positive points to consider. The graphics on tables and the layout in general is good, along with player traffic which is at a healthy level.

One thing that immediately springs to mind when talking of Celeb Pokers is the first time deposit bonus on offer. This stands at 200% and although this offer is capped at 1,000 euros and is released in increments, it is still a great offer to help new players get started.
Also available are Jackpot Sit n Go’s, which pay out 10,000 Euros if you manage to win 6 in a row. Although this is a big ask, the extra incentive to succeed is always a good thing.
If you are looking for a prospect of an exceptionally large win while playing online, Celeb Poker has got something very special planned in November in the form of a 20,000 Euro buy in event. The prize pool is expected to rise to the million mark and you should not be concerned if this buy in is beyond your means, as satellites for the tournament will be running over the next couple of months.
Refer a Friend and Reload Bonuses are in operation at Celeb poker too, which contributes to an all round strong package of bonuses.
Although the site isn’t amongst my personal top three, it certainly has it’s qualities and thousands of players who are onsite at peak times appear to agree. Check out Celeb Pokers homepage for more information on all their current offers and instructions on how to join the site.

There are many players you will find in this type of tournament who do not realise that there should be any point to give up and leave the tournament, but there are certainly factors to consider when you are rebuying repeatedly.
First of all, consider that with all the foolish players throwing all their chips in every hand until they get lucky, the average chip stack in the tournament will get high pretty quickly. With this in mind there isn’t much point rebuying 2,000 in chips for the tenth time, if the tournament average is already over 10,000. You’re simply too far behind for it to be worth your while.
That aside, I think it’s important to set yourself a limit on rebuys before you begin the tournament. You need to be sensible with your bankroll and know when you have invested enough money in a tournament already.
The other aspect of considering when to stop rebuying, is what the prize pool stands at, and how much you have spent so far. You do not for instance, want to be rebuying into a table where you are the small stack, and need to miraculously fight back and defeat 95% of the field to turn a profit.
Of course this sort of scenario is possible, but no matter how good you are it is highly improbable.
So when it comes to that tempting rebuy moment in future, consider if your money might be better invested in a fresh tournament. Or failing that, just do what I do, and avoid rebuy tournaments in the first place.

Phil Hellmuth has for quite some time now been known as ‘the poker brat’ he seems to revel in this nickname too, always looking for an opportunity to berate his opponents or put them down in some way. Now, as much as I am respectful of Phils achievements as a player, and he may well be the best Holdem player in the world, that is all the more reason to behave with dignity and class at the poker tables.
Does he not think himself a role model for young players in the game? Or perhaps he wants poker games to go from the general good natured, gentlemans game that it largely is, into tirades of abuse and insults at the tables. Because whether he likes it or not, as the most decorated man ever at the WSOP, people will grow to think of the way he behaves as acceptable, and it really isn’t.
Phil must know that when a player makes a poor move, gets lucky and wins, that they have only been lucky. They have not outplayed anyone and over time he will win chips off these players. I can understand him being upset about losing a big pot, but you have to reign in your emotions and take it on the chin, because that is the fickle nature of a deck of cards, just because you played a hand well, that doesn’t give you a right to the pot every single time.
One of the finest things in my opinion, that sets poker aside from other games, is that there are not rowdy crowds shouting and jeering at players they do or don’t like. Just as there are not players exploding like a petulant five year old when they lose (except one).
Despite everything Phil has won in his poker career, for me, he will never be a true champion of the game until he learns to act with the grace of a professional who understands that his game involves an element of luck.
